Follow up: P2 HW#2

Recently Staff recently discussed the topic of "Bad Admins", and how they relate to staff. So far there are two parts:

  1. Why staff don't remove bad admins
  2. How You Can Work Through an Admin Dispute.

If there are more in the future, I'll to the list.

Discuss.

My prefered analogy is that each wiki is a country with Wikia the United Nations. Each country has its own laws and rules, which can differ even among neighboring ones.

It takes some serious sheet to get the UN involved. Even once they are, they try to be as minimally invasive as each situation calls for.

Admins are like rulers of the countries, with each their own style. Some are benevolent and democratic, some are dictators. The UN of course prefers to deal with the former, and will provide needed aide to the communities of the latter.

If you can grasp that, then understanding how and why Staff take the various actions and inactions that they do becomes comprehensible.

I feel like a dictator... I do not know why... I just feel like it...

Rulers can change. Ebenezer Scrooge, to veer from the country analogy, learn his lessons. So can we all.

One of the best ways to approach almost anything in life is the Golden Rule. Admin unto others as you'd have them admin unto you…

I'm not a leader. I'm just a person who does stuff when there's actually a problem.

True. It does depend on the wiki's condition. At the moment, I invest more into In-Depth Video Pages than I do into obvious, immediate problems. I think I deserve to be admin.
